Robin Wright has acted in some of our favorite films as well as on one of the greatest TV shows with House of Cards. Now she is taking on a new role — directing her first feature film in which she is also starring, called Land.

Robin Wright Directs First Feature-Length Film

While she directed episodes of her hit Netflix show, this will be her first effort for the big screen. She took to Instagram Monday to offer a sneak peek of her upcoming effort.

The film follows the journey of Edee Mathis (Wright), a woman haunted by her past who is seeking out a new life, off the grid in Wyoming. The film also stars Batwoman vet Warren Christie (Adam), Sarah Dawn Pledge (Alawa Crow), Demián Bichir (Grand Hotel), and Kim Dickens. It is set to premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival sometime between January 28 and February 3.

In the trailer, Wright’s Edee is seen bemoaning to her therapist that “it’s really difficult to be around people because they just want me to be better.” She later relocates to The Sagebrush State and revels in the provided monotony and anonymity…but adversity soon rears its head in the guise of bitter cold and one particularly ferocious bear!

Though this will mark Wright’s first full-length picture, it is hardly her first time behind the camera. She helmed the 2017 short The Dark Night, and she directed 10 episodes of House of Cards, including the series finale.

For fans of her character Antiope in Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman franchise, you can look forward to seeing her once again in Wonder Woman 1984, which will be released on Christmas Day, as well as in the upcoming miniseries Zack Snyder’s Justice League, scheduled for sometime in 2021.

Land, written by Jess Chatham and Erin Dignam, will arrive in theaters on February 12, 2021. The film’s producers include Allyn Stewart, Lora Kennedy, and Perter Saraf.
