The Handmaid’s Tale Video: Alexis Bledel On Playing Her Character

Emily escaped into Canada at the beginning of Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale and has been working to live a normal life in safety, but things have definitely not been easy for her.

Not only was she sent out to the Colonies to die — among a handful of other horrible things — she has been separated from her wife and son for years. In this flashback video, actress Alex Bledel discusses her character of Emily — who used to go by Ofglen — and why she’s different from other girls like June.

“Ofglen is a little bit different than the other Handmaids in the sense that she has a rebellious spirit, she has hope that maybe she could escape. She’s not afraid, she’s not as terrified as maybe she should be,” she says.
