The Handmaid’s Tale Flashback Video: Janine On The Bridge

One of the most powerful scenes in the first season of The Handmaid’s Tale was when June (Elisabeth Moss) tries to convince Janine (Madeline Brewer) to not jump off of the bridge with her baby.

Though — spoiler alert — June was unsuccessful since Janine still decides to jump, but the scene perfectly encapsulates what life is truly like for these handmaids. They are forced to give birth to their own children and then give them up to other parents, which sends many of them over the edge — literally in some cases.
