Game of Thrones Season 8: Writers Explain Episode 5

This week’s episode of Game of Thrones left fans filled with conflicting emotions. While some viewers loved to see King’s Landing burn to the ground, others couldn’t understand what made Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) seemingly flip on a dime.

In a new inside look into Episode 5, executive producers and writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss try to explain what the characters were thinking and feeling.

“Dany is an incredibly strong person. She’s also someone who’s had really close friendships and close advisors for her entire run of the show. You look at those people who have been closest to her for such a long time and almost all of them have either turned on her or died,” Benioff said.
