Game of Thrones Actors Pay Tribute To Their Twin Characters

Spoiler alert warning — don’t continue reading if you haven’t watched Episode 5 of Game of Thrones, which aired on Sunday, May 12. OK, now that you’ve been warned, let’s get into it.

Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, both paid tribute to their incredible characters after this week’s devastating episode in which they both died. Though both deaths were probably a long time coming, it’s still sad to see the twisted Lannister twins meet their demise.

Headey shared a number of photos and videos on Instagram following the episode, but her first post reflected on playing her complicated character.

“There she goes. It’s been fun, and bonkers. I loved her. I am grateful for the opportunity. Massively thankful for your encouraging and supportive love along the way. And now her watch is ended (I know she’d never make it, Nights watch wouldn’t have her .. but still..),” Headey captioned a photo of herself.

The actress also shared a photo of herself with Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei, and who Cersei killed in Episode 4 of Season 8.

“Beautiful @nathalieemmanuel You represented hope and true strength. I didn’t like that day up there,” Headey wrote.

She also shared a sweet picture of herself with Coster-Waldau wearing bald caps on their head and the caption, “When @nikolajwilliamcw and I wore jellyfish … I f—ing love you ya big weirdo.”

Coster-Waldau also paid tribute to his and Headey’s characters in a post of his own and thanked his onscreen sister and great love for eight wonderful seasons.

“The best, sweetest most wonderful sister from another mother @iamlenaheadey. That was a fun decade,” he wrote.
