5. Something Snaps
Dany was on top of her dragon, seething as she realized the war was won but it didn’t satisfy that thirst for revenge she was feeling. When she made the decision to torch all of King’s Landing on her way to the Red Keep, it was a gut-punch, even if it was foreshadowed for years now.

4. The End Is Near
Cersei spent most of the battle in denial but once she stared down with Dany (okay, not really — there’s no way they could see each other’s eyes), the truth seemed to register and she finally agreed to leave the Red Keep — but it was all way too late.

3. Friendship Sealed
It was a touching moment when Sandor told Arya not to be like him — what a turnaround these two have experienced. But when Arya left him, we knew the Hound was toast. But it was awesome when Gregor took his brother out with him! That fight was epic —and gave us hope Arya might survive.

2. Brotherly Love Part II
It was a horrifying moment to realize that all these years of character development on Jaime’s Hero’s Journey were for nothing as he returned to be with his hateful twin, Cersei. Their deaths (especially hers) were incredibly unsatisfying and didn’t jive with the prophecy. Yeah, they went out the way they came into the world, blah blah.

1. Energizer Arya
One fake-out death was okay, but trying to make us think Arya was dead a few times was just bizarre because it felt more like a cartoon. We get that they wanted to show how harrowing exiting a burning city was. However, surviving so much that should have killed her started to seem ridiculous — though we’re glad Arya lived!
