Though Ned Stark was one of the main characters on Game of Thrones back in Season 1, he’s been long gone for quite some time now. In fact, his death may be one of the most traumatizing deaths of the entire series, and that’s saying something!
Despite the fact he’s no longer with us, fans and viewers still miss Ned’s (Sean Bean) presence on the show. Here are the top five reasons we miss the original Warden of the North!
A Legend
There will only ever be one Ned Stark. He was respected by people all across Westeros because of who he was as a person, which is pretty hard to accomplish. He fought when he needed to, but he also knew how to be fair, civil, and was honest to a fault. Well, except about Jon’s parentage but he had made a promise!
Honorable Man
While most people in Westeros are horrible, or close to being horrible, Ned believed in truth and justice. He fought for people who couldn’t fight for themselves and believed in doing the right thing. His son, Robb Stark, was a lot like him, but he died too early as well.
Good Father
He truly loved and cared for each one of his kids, though they were all very different. He even encouraged Arya to be the person she wanted to be, which wasn’t necessarily conventional. Bottom line, he was an awesome dad!
Gentle Ruler
A lot of rulers and kings only care about power, not the people they’re ruling over (just ask Cersei Lannister!), but Ned wasn’t one like them. He loved his people in the North and did everything he could to fight for them.
Loving Husband
Though Catelyn is also gone, he truly cared for her and loved her. Their marriage was arranged, like most every other marriage in Westeros, but Ned fell hard for her and their love grew as they had children and built a life together.
