Brown’s character in This Is Us, Randall Pearson, is married to his college sweetheart, Beth Pearson. As it turns out, Brown is too! He met his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe, when they attended Stanford together though interestingly, they were born at the same hospital in St. Louis. They also have two biological kids — just like Randall and Beth.
Brown has won a great deal of praise for his performances on This Is Us, but his awards have been history-making. In fact, he came became the first African American actor to ever win the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series when he won in 2018.
Reel vs. Real Life
In 2016, the actor played real-life prosecutor Christopher Darden in FX’s award-winning television event series The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Not only that, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie.
First TV Gig
While he’s currently on a hit NBC show, one of his first successes on TV was also on the peacock network. He appeared on Third Watch back in 2002 for nine episodes over a few seasons.
