Max Mayfield wasn’t a part of the first season of Stranger Things, but she did make a big impression when she joined the show in Season 2. Not only was it nice to have another girl on the show, but she also brought a new personality and energy to the group.
From her super-fun obsession to who gave her that very first kiss, here are five fast facts you need to know about Max (Sadie Sink) on Stranger Things!
Hidden Skill
Max is first introduced to the show in Season 2, but before we meet her onscreen, we learn about her thanks to an arcade game Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) is obsessed with called Dig Dug. Dustin is shocked when he learns that somebody named “MADMAX” beat his high score, and he’s determined to find out who it is.
Awesome Obsession
Along with being great at arcade games, Max is also very obsessed with skateboarding. After her first day of school, Dustin, Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), and Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) realize she’s a good skateboarder after spying on her. Max brings her skateboard wherever she goes and is always trying to learn new tricks.
Family Issue
Though Max has a very tough exterior, she’s deeply terrified of her stepbrother, Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery). Billy is not very nice to Max and is constantly emotionally abusive toward her. However, Max gets her revenge on Billy at the end of Season 2 when she gives him a sedative and demands he stop harassing her.
First Kiss
In Season 2, it’s clear Max and Lucas have a crush on one another but neither is brave enough to admit it. Lucas is the only one who’s able to crack Max’s hard exterior, as he learns about her family life and where she moved from. They end up attending their Hawkins Middle School dance and share their first kiss together on the dance floor.
Powerful Rival
When Eleven and Max first met back in Season 2, it’s clear Eleven is not a big fan of the new girl in town. Though she doesn’t know her, she’s not very nice to her and doesn’t really give her the time of day. In fact, she thinks Max is interested in Mike because she spends a lot of time with him until she realizes that Max is actually interested in Lucas.
