From where she was born and raised to her big breakout role, here are five fast facts you should know about Grand Hotel star Wendy Raquel Robinson.
In the Beginning

She knew she wanted to be an actor after she was cast in a local production of West Side Story as a dancer, but had to fill in for one of the actors who got sick. She is a cum laude graduate of Howard University of the School of Fine Arts.
Breakout Role
Robinson’s first television appearance was on the show Martin back in 1993, but she snagged her breakout role as Regina “Piggy” Griere on The Steve Harvey Show in 1996. She was a series regular and stayed on the show until it ended after six seasons in 2002.
Racking Up The Nominations
Thanks to her work on both The Steve Harvey Show and another comedy series she was on called The Game, Robinson has been nominated for a whopping 11 NAACP Image Awards for both Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress in a comedy series. After years of being nominated, she took home the award in 2014.
Helping Kids
Along with acting, Robinson is very committed to her charity work. In fact, back in 1996, she co-founded the Amazing Grace Conservatory, which helps underprivileged kids have the chance to pursue the arts. The program has allowed thousands of kids to follow their dreams and passions.
Getting Personal
Robinson married her husband, Marco Perkins, back in 2003 after they were introduced through friends. However, Perkins filed for divorce from Robinson back in August 2018. They are still in the process of ending their marriage, but they share no children together.
