Usually, a large cast means more characters to love. But is that the case on General Hospital where we’ve got the Corinthos mob family and all of their hangers-on. We’ve got some residual Quartermaines, Spencers, Webbers, and even Hardys.
Then there are the relative newcomer Cassadines, Davises, and Jeromes. Plus, there’s a cult. Is all of the above too much of a good thing? What almost 6,000 regular viewers think:
The more, the merrier, 60% of you cheer. Too much is never enough! After all, we need to know what Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) and their assorted children are up to. Which means Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam (Kelly Monaco), and that new street urchin, too.
Then they have to yell at Ava (Maura West), and everyone who goes into his place of business needs to yell at Julian (William deVry), which includes his ex-wife, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and her daughters.
Liz (Rebecca Herbst) also has three sons with stories and an ex-serial killer for a new husband. Plus, remember Laura (Genie Francis)? She used to kind of be a big deal in Port Charles. She has a new husband, too — in his case, it’s his twin brother who’s the serial killer — and a daughter, plus a very peculiar grandson. So, who would you cut from all of the above? We say… nobody.
On the other hand, 40% could stand with some pruning of the cast. The question is… who should it be? Should it be the folks who barely have any story as it is — Felicia (Kristina Wagner), Mac (John J. York), Bobbie (Jaclyn Zeman), Monica (Leslie Charleson)? Or should it be those who are on every day — see above — and probably need a rest?
If the Corinthos family were given a break, maybe we’d get to see more Scorpios. Or even Brad (Parry Shen) and Lucas (Ryan Carnes) at the same time, for a change. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
