If you are a fan of The Good Place, you definitely know who Manny Jacinto is. He stars as lovable Jason Mendoza, who has a heart of gold but is definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed. While this is his first major role, Jacinto has been in a number of projects before, including Supernatural and iZombie.
From where he was raised to the career he pursued before acting, here are five fast facts you need to know about Manny Jacinto from NBC’s hit comedy, The Good Place.
In the Beginning
Though he was born in Manila, Philippines, Jacinto and his family moved to Canada when he was just 3 years old. He grew up in Richmond, British Columbia playing basketball and baseball and attended an all-boys Catholic high school called Vancouver College.
Smartie Pants
After graduating high school, Jacinto went on to earn a degree in Applied Science in civil engineering from the University of British Columbia.
Career Switch
Following college, Jacinto started to pursue dancing and even joined a number of hip-hop dance competitions. However, he decided to change direction and gave up his pursuit of dance to instead try his hand at acting. Jacinto has an obsessive personality and initially believed this would prevent him from having a career in acting.
First Television Role
Before landing his role on The Good Place, Jacinto’s first role on television was on the hit ABC series, Once Upon A Time. He was on the show back in 2013.
Flying High
It looks like 2020 will be a huge year for the actor as he is set to appear in the much-anticipated sequel to Top Gun with legendary actor Tom Cruise, called Top Gun: Maverick. There isn’t much known about his role as yet but it will be a huge opportunity.
