Jeffrey Dean Morgan broke millions of hearts on Grey’s Anatomy as Denny Duquette, but he’s also known for other shows and movies, including Supernatural, The Walking Dead, The Good Wife, and P.S. I Love You. Though he was only on Grey’s for a short amount of time, he’ll definitely go down in the history books as being a fan favorite.
From the other Shonda Rhimes show he was almost on to his beautiful family life, here are five fast facts you need to know about former Grey’s Anatomy star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
One Day Too Early
Though Morgan started working in Hollywood in the ‘90s and was booking very consistent work, he was actually dropped by his former manager because she believed he wasn’t getting enough jobs. However, it turned out to be just one day before he landed his role on Supernatural in 2005 — so the joke’s on her!
What Could Have Been
After guesting on Grey’s Anatomy as Denny Duquette, creator Shonda Rhimes cast Morgan in a proposed show called Correspondents. It was supposed to start filming in summer 2007, but ABC decided to pick-up another Rhimes show instead called Private Practice. Because of this, Correspondents was shelved and never saw the light of day.
The Life Of An Actor
Though Morgan has done movies and television and has played a variety of characters, he was really tested when he was cast as a man with tuberculosis in the movie, Texas Rising. He had to lose 40 pounds in a fairly short amount of time, which meant he could only eat a can of tuna per day.
A Grey’s Connection
Morgan began dating actress Hilarie Burton in 2009. Burton is probably best known for playing Peyton on One Tree Hill, but she was also coincidentally on Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Lauren Boswell back in Season 9. The couple got married in 2014 and have two children together, 9-year-old son Gus and 1-year-old daughter George Virginia.
Business Owner
Along with being a very successful actor, Morgan also co-owns a candy store in Rhinebeck, New York with his actor friend Paul Rudd (Ant-Man). The store is called Samuel’s Sweet Shop and they ultimately saved the store from closing after the previous owner, who was a friend of theirs, sadly died.
