Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson believes Jussie Smollett sent himself a threatening letter days before his alleged staged attack — but the feds aren’t so sure.
According to TMZ, federal law enforcement is still investigating the letter that was reportedly sent to the Empire actor and they haven’t decided whether or not he sent it to himself.
In fact, some believe the two brothers who Jussie allegedly recruited to attack him may have mailed the letter.
When police raided the apartment of Abel and Ola Osundairo, there were pages missing from their magazines.
It’s safe to say the feds are operating very carefully and are weighing all options. They are comparing the missing pages to the letters used in the letter, as well as comparing the postage stamps.
Meanwhile, Jussie was released from jail on Thursday, February 21 after his bail was set at $100K.
Rather than finding privacy, Jussie headed to the set of Empire, where he continued shooting his scenes for the second to last episode of this season.
According to TMZ, the 36-year-old apologized to the cast and crew and begged them to forgive him.
“I’m sorry I’ve put you all through this and not answered any calls. I wanted to say I’m sorry and, you know me, I would never do this to any of you, you are my family. I swear to God, I did not do this,” he reportedly said to everyone on set.
He was clearly emotional, but he did get through his scene. It’s still unclear what FOX is going to do regarding Jussie’s character moving forward.
