Eva Longoria and Will Packer Partner For Latina Ensemble Drama

Eva Longoria may have left daytime behind when she exited the role of calculating Isabella Braña on The Young and the Restless, but she hasn’t left the soap biz. The former Desperate Housewives and Grand Hotel star has a new series in development.

Eva Longoria and Will Packer Team Up

According to Deadline, Longoria has partnered with Will Packer (Ambitions) to develop Tias, a Latina ensemble drama that is female-driven. The story is based on a pitch by television writer Rob Sudduth (FYI: Sudduth is the husband of Greg Rikaart, who plays Kevin, on YR).

Sudduth is an actor turned writer. His performer credits include parts on Felicity, Alias, YR, Veronica Mars, and Desperate Housewives. He wrote the feature film, Going to Gunn, which took home Best Comedy honors in the Page International Screenwriting Awards. He served as a producer on The Real O’Neals (ABC), On My Block (Netflix), and was a supervising producer on Lifetime’s American Princess. He also wrote for Telenovela, the NBC sitcom that Longoria served as executive producer, star, and director.

It’s A YR Life

Longoria made her daytime debut as a Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) look-alike on General Hospital in 2000. Next, she landed the role of Isabella Brauna on YR. She’d been hired by Michael Baldwin (Christian Jules LeBlanc) to romance Paul (Doug Davidson) while Christine (Lauralee Bell) was working in Hong Kong.

Isabella had Paul’s son Ricky (Peter Porter) but after it became evident that Paul still loved Chris, she went off the deep end, faked her own death, attempted to frame Chris, and then tried to slit Chris’s throat after drugging her.

After leaving YR, Longoria landed the series Dragnet and then shot to superstardom on Desperate Housewives as Gabi, a married ex-supermodel who was having an affair with her gardener, John (Jesse Metcalfe). Longoria is a Golden Globe nominee and a People’s Choice Award and SAG Award-winning actor.
