June is PRIDE month, celebrating the gay community, and Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo wants to make sure that one particular person is singled out and remembered for their huge contribution over the years.
Pompeo took to Instagram to show her love for the RuPaul’s Drag Race star, reposting RuPaul’s own official posting as the cover model of Los Angeles magazine’s PRIDE cover.
“And how do we celebrate #PRIDE without celebrating the original G!!!! @rupaulofficial the world is a better place because of you thank you for spreading love and pride your contribution to your community has been immeasurable ❤️❤️❤️”
She’s not kidding — RuPaul, a three-time Emmy Award winner for the reality competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race, has been incredible for the community, having been the most commercially successful drag queen in the United States and in 2017, was included in the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
Pompeo’s support for the LGBTQ community has been honored in the past. She received a GLSEN Respect Award in recognition of her advocacy for them, as she has advocated for Gay/Straight Alliances in schools to encourage equality and acceptance. The actress will be returning to Grey’s Anatomy for its 16th season this coming fall.
