Country music stars Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were recently in Nashville for what appears to be their final time.
During the appearance, the two musicians who sang their hit duet “Islands in the Stream,” and it could be their last live performance.
According to USA Today, on Wednesday night the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee hosted the “All In For The Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration.”
The big concert featured a slew of performers who took to the stage to honor Rogers’ longtime music career. They included Lionel Richie, Idina Menzel, Chris Stapleton, Reba McEntire, and of course, Rogers’ longtime friend Dolly Parton.
As he watched from a chair to the side of the stage, Rogers was serenaded by Parton with the hit song, “I Will Always Love You,” which she famously penned.
“I know I’m artificial, but I like to think my heart is real. I have a spot (in my heart) for you that’s never ever going to be touched by anybody else,” Parton said of Rogers. In 2015, Rogers announced that he’d be officially retiring after his final concert tour this year.
While this may be their final time together on stage at Bridgestone in Nashville, the two may be on stage at future concert dates. In addition, Dolly hinted that maybe she and Kenny will still work together to “co-write” new songs. In a rockstar-like-moment, the two decided to give the crowd a “mic drop” to close out their time on stage together Wednesday.
Fans will be able to see upcoming performances from the Rogers’ tour in cities in Wisconsin, Illinois, Maryland, and New Hampshire over the next few weeks. Plus, there are more dates spanning until December 10th listed on Kenny Rogers’ official website.
