They were the heart and soul of Days of Our Lives (DOOL) for decades and the patriarch and matriarch of the show, as it all began with Tom and Alice Horton.
The story of Tom and Alice and their four children made this soap what it is today, leaving us Horton legacy characters like Julie, Jennifer, and Hope, the couple’s granddaughters.
Macdonald Carey and Frances Reid had been in showbiz long before they decided to do a soap and each played their characters from November 8, 1965 till their deaths. Carey died in 1994 and Reid passed away in 2010.
