The Season 28 cast of Dancing With the Stars was announced on Good Morning America on Wednesday, August 21 and it looks like this season is chock full of amazing talent!
From actor James Van Der Beek to country singer Lauren Alaina to former NBA star Lamar Odom, there’s no shortage of star power. In addition, former Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke, supermodel Christie Brinkley, comedian Kel Mitchell, former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, Bachelorette Hannah Brown, and Queer Eye star Karamo Brown have also signed up.
Actress Kate Flannery rounds things out with The Supremes singer Mary Wilson and former NFL star Ray Lewis. Though many of these stars have a chance to win it all, here are the five celebrities we think will go far this season.
5. James Van Der Beek
Dawson’s Creek fans are rabid, so there’s a good chance Van Der Beek will have a ton of support going into this season. Not to mention, DWTS fans are suckers for nostalgia, so that’s a point in his favor! Obviously, we don’t know if Van Der Beek has any natural dance ability, but if he has just a little bit of rhythm he could go very far.
4. Kel Mitchell
Speaking of nostalgia, kids of the ‘90s will most certainly remember Kel Mitchell as one of the stars of the Nickelodeon sitcom Kenan & Kel, as well as All That. He’s a comedian, so he’ll have a fun personality that’ll certainly win over fans who aren’t familiar with him. Plus, if we remember correctly, he showed off some natural dance moves on his shows back in the day!
3. Christie Brinkley
Not only did Brinkley dance in ex-husband Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl music video, but she’s also naturally elegant and graceful thanks to her many years as a supermodel. We have a feeling she’ll be excellent at some of the slower ballroom styles, like the waltz and foxtrot. Don’t sleep on Brinkley, people!
2. Karamo Brown
OK, who doesn’t love Queer Eye star Karamo Brown? He has incredible energy, an amazing fanbase, and he’s really popular at the moment thanks to the success of the Netflix show. He’ll win fans over with his openness and vulnerability, but he also seems like someone who will give the show his all. If he works hard to perfect his dance moves, he could go all the way.
1. Hannah Brown
Brown has all the necessary ingredients to win this Mirrorball Trophy. Not only does she have dance experience, but she’s also top of mind for so many people who just watched her try to find love on TV.
She’ll not only get high scores from the judges, but she’ll also get the sympathy vote from viewers. Brown has a great personality, so she’ll certainly be able to win over people who didn’t watch her on The Bachelorette.
