ABC shocked Bachelor Nation when it announced its plans to pause two seasons of The Bachelorette. The last time this happened was in 2006 and 2007. There are various theories behind this shocking decision. Dancing with the Stars fans have entered the conversation and proposed a new theory.
The Bachelorette Is On Hold
At first, it was assumed that The Bachelorette was canceled. The show isn’t canceled. ABC is just pausing production on the spinoff series for now. Host Jesse Palmer confirmed the news on the Playing The Field podcast.
“The good news is I know it’s not going away. I know it’s definitely coming back,” Palmer said. “Without being able to get into too much of the creative decisions on it, I know that when it does [return], I just think it’s going to be absolutely tremendous.”
Palmer admitted that he was “a little bit bummed” by the network’s decision. However, he remains confident that The Bachelorette will return at some point. He teased that its return will make fans even more excited. ABC wants to make some changes within The Bachelor franchise.
Two DWTS Shows Per Year
DWTS fans have discussed the news. Many on Reddit discussed the possibility of bringing the competition back to its original format, which aired two seasons per year. There was an increased interest in the show during Season 33 thanks to TikTok. “Given this supposed ‘surge’ in popularity, I would rather watch a show than some idiotic crap on social media,” one fan bluntly wrote.
Some fans would love ABC to choose sides. Either they would have to air DWTS during the fall or spring seasons. It would be hard for DWTS to have two seasons yearly since American Idol airs in the spring. “I’d two seasons again, or even a spring season over a fall season,” another user noted. Meanwhile, other fans would rather watch the show once per year.
“I think it’s overkill, which makes it not as special as when it comes back. Plus, I like the tour,” another Redditor commented. If there were a spring season, the tour would air during the summer. This could make it easier for fans to see the tour since most are on vacation during that time. Due to the recent cancellations, the 2025 DWTS Live Tour has been off to a rough start.
ABC hasn’t announced a decision to bring back the twice-a-year format. What are your thoughts? Would you like to watch DWTS twice a year again? Or do you like the single-year format? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
