Anna Delvey’s first week on Dancing With the Stars didn’t go as she anticipated. The convicted con artist is dealing with drama off the ballroom floor. She’s feuding with a former pro dancer as she deals with the pressures of dancing with an ankle monitor.
Crying in the DWTS Bathroom
Delvey gained attention for swindling thousands of dollars to fund her lavish lifestyle. The kicker is that she was never the wealthy socialite she claimed to be. Delvey was convicted of grand larceny in 2019. She served only three years of her 10- to 12-year prison sentence.
Delvey is looking to have a fresh star. But instead of taking a break from the public eye, she’s competing on Season 33 of DWTS. The fake heiress made her dancing debut on the September 17th premiere of the ABC dancing competition. Delvey is partnered up with pro Ezra Sosa.
He told his Instagram followers he found her crying in the bathroom after their first dance. Delvey read the cruel comments about her on social media. She was distraught over the criticism she received.
“No one deserves the amount of hate that she’s getting right now,” Sosa continued. “She deserves a second chance.”
Delvey’s Feud With Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Speaking of hate, she was in a feud with former DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. According to Newsweek, Delvey reposted a screenshot originally from her friend, Kelly Cutrone. The screenshot revealed a TMZ article in which Chmerkovskiy called Delvey a “s****y dancer.”
Delvey responded, “Who’s this Maskim person? He must be poor.” It’s unclear whether she was joking or unfamiliar with the former DWTS professional dancer. On Monday, September 23, Chermkovsky appeared on the TMZ Podcast and called Delvey a “professional liar.”
“I don’t buy this ‘she was nervous’ stuff. She’s just a sl***** dancer [and] her personality is not really going to help her in this competition,” he added.
