Last week, Dancing With the Stars dance pro Gleb Savchenko was voted off the reality competition series along with his celebrity partner Chrishell Stause. Now, Savchenko is sharing that news of another ending — he and his dancer wife, Elena Samodanova, are splitting up.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you my wife and I are parting ways after 14 years of marriage,” Savchenko announced on Instagram in a post that has had its comments section deactivated. “We still intend to co-parent our wonderful children together who we love so dearly, and we will strive to continue to be the best parents that we can to them. We ask that you respect our family’s need for privacy and healing during this time.”
The 37-year-old dancer, born in Moscow Russia, and Samodanova have two daughters, Olivia, 10, and Zlata, 3.
Savchenko made his DWTS debut back in Season 12, but it was a quick appearance. He and model Erin McNaught were the first pair to be eliminated. He returned in Season 16 and was paired with high-profile star Lisa Vanderpump (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), but he also made a relatively early exit in his sophomore outing.
Savchenko performed as a troupe member in Season 17 of DWTS. He was back as a pro in Season 23, paired with singer/actress Jana Kramer. This time, he made it to the finals, finishing in fourth place. He was back again the following season, matched again with another Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Erika Jayne. That year, he finished in 9th place.
In Season 25, he was paired up with Sasha Pieterse and they were the fourth couple eliminated. The following season, he was partnered with Arike Ogunbowale, a Notre Dame women’s basketball player. He came in 7th place that time.
Next, Savchenko was matched with comedian Nikki Glaser. Alas, there wasn’t much to laugh about after they were the first pair voted off the show. He had a much different experience the following season when he was paired with country music singer Lauren Alaina, going all the way to the finals, finishing in fourth place.
Savchenko and Stause lasted until the 8th week of competition this season. Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
