Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson are opening up about some devastating news they share on the newest season of Counting On.
The newlyweds, who tied the knot back in June 2018, open up about suffering a miscarriage in a sneak peek clip from Season 4.
“Lauren and I were actually preparing for a trip to go to a friend’s wedding over the weekend. She started feeling really sick and started noticing some different things,” Josiah said in the clip.
“Ms. Swanson was there to help her out. I didn’t really know what was going on.”
Lauren shared what her symptoms were, but she didn’t know what was wrong.
“I wasn’t feeling well — I was cramping really, really bad, which was quite strange because I normally don’t. I was thinking I had something with gluten in it,” she recalled.
“It was late at night and I went to the restroom, and right there was the baby. Gone. I couldn’t believe it, and I was hoping it wasn’t true.”
The couple found out about the miscarriage in October, which happened to be a few weeks after they learned about their pregnancy.
This comes almost a year after the couple announced their engagement in March 2018, when they were experiencing so much joy.
“Lauren and I are engaged! This is an exciting big step in our lives and the whole thing was very meaningful,” Josiah said.
“The place where I proposed to Lauren is the exact spot where her parents were engaged. There’s a lot of family history on this property making it a special place for Lauren.”
They then decided to tie the knot in their home state of Arkansas just three months later and recently celebrated their six-month anniversary.
“Can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since I married you! You were the best decision I ever made! Love u sweet heart,” Josiah wrote on Instagram.
