Chris Harrison Knew Bachelorette Couple Kaitlyn Bristowe & Shawn Booth “Were Struggling Privately”

Bachelorette couple Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth decided to officially break up last week, but host Chris Harrison did everything he could to help the couple out.

The 47-year-old revealed to Extra that he wasn’t necessarily surprised when they announced their split, especially because he knew of their problems privately.

“Yes and no. I mean, I’m in very close contact with Kaitlyn, she’s a very good friend of mine,” he shared.

“I usually stay in touch with those who are the Bachelor [and] Bachelorette.”

Though things weren’t going in the right direction for Kaitlyn and Shawn, Chris tried to be somewhat of a counselor for the pair.

“I knew that they were struggling privately, and I knew they were really trying to work it out,” he said.

“So, I was kind of like a counselor off-air, talking to her and trying to help them, because they were really fighting for it, really trying to make it work.”

However, despite trying to make it work, the couple announced their split in a statement last week.

“After three incredible years, we have decided to go our separate ways. This difficult decision comes after thoughtful, respectful consideration,” the statement said.

“Even though we are parting as a couple, we’re very much committed to remaining friends. We have both evolved as people, which is taking us in different directions, but with the hope that we will continue to support each other in new ways.”

The statement continued, “Due to the nature of how we met, our relationship has always been very public, and we have enjoyed sharing it with all of you, but we ask that you respect our decision and our privacy at this time.”

We appreciate the fact that Chris at least tried to keep one of our favorite Bachelor Nation couples together!
