The Bachelor has been on the air for 23 seasons and has never had an African-American lead, but according to Chris Harrison, that might change soon.

While he was opening up to E! News about Colton Underwood’s upcoming season, the host of the popular show also touched on the idea of bringing more diversity to the lead role in the future.

“Sure, absolutely. There’s no reason not to. For Rachel [Lindsay], I’m glad Rachel wasn’t the first black Bachelorette, I’m glad that she was the right woman,” Chris shared.

“She’s extraordinary, smart, beautiful, charismatic, funny. She’s an amazing woman. That’s what I want. Same thing for a man. I just want it to be a great man.”

Chris also shared his thoughts on the new season and even dished on whether fans can expect the most dramatic season ever.

“Is it the most dramatic? I don’t even really need to pump this season up that much because of what you’re about to see,” he said.

We cannot wait to watch this new season when it premieres in a little over a month! Are you excited to see Colton fall in love? Let us know your thoughts!
