He’s received multiple awards and honors including two Academy Awards for both his acting and producing duties. And now, Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt has even more to celebrate!
And that’s because he was born on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, which means that this Tinsletown icon is turning 57 years old today! Pitt launched his acting career with uncredited parts in several films – Hunk (1987), No Way Out (1987), No Man’s Land (1987), and Less Than Zero (1987).
A brief run on the NBC daytime soap opera Another World (1987) introduced Pitt to a television audience, and he subsequently appeared on episodes of sitcoms such as Trial and Error (1987), Growing Pains (1987), and in primetime dramas like Dallas (1987-1988) and 21 Jump Street (1988).
In 1988, Pitt appeared in what was suppose to be his first featured role as Rick Clayton in The Dark Side of the Sun. Instead, the film was shelved until 1997 and then released directly-to-video. In the aftermath of that setback, Pitt took a supporting part in the comedy Happy Together and a co-starring one in the thriller Cutting Class (1989).
He made further guest appearances on primetime programs, including the series Thirtysomething (1989), Glory Days (1990), and Tales from the Crypt (1992), and made-for-TV films such as Too Young to Die? (1990), and The Image (1990).
In 1991, Brad Pitt snagged his career-making role: J.D. in the Geena Davis/Susan Sarandon-starring picture Thelma & Louise. After, he starred in Johnny Suede (1991), and Cool World (1992). Pitt would go on to receive significant praise for his turn as serial killer Early Grayce in the film Kalifornia (1993), and for playing Floyd the stoner in True Romance (1993).
But 1994 would prove to be a banner year for Pitt, as he would appear in two blockbuster pictures: Interview With A Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles and Legends of the Fall. A year later, he would star alongside Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow in the crime thriller Seven.
Pitt’s further credits include the films 12 Monkeys (1995), which netted him a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor, Sleepers (1996), Meet Joe Black (1998), Fight Club (1999), Troy (2004), Babel (2006), and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2020), for which he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
Pitt also collaborated on several projects with his second wife, actress Angelina Jolie – including Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), and By the Sea (2014) – and he had a main role in the Ocean’s trilogy. His producing duties on 12 Years A Slave earned him his first Oscar in 2014 when it won Best Picture. Entertainment Hub would like to wish Brad Pitt a very happy birthday.
