Bachelorette Star JJ Lane Shares How His Daughter Was Involved In His Proposal

Former Bachelorette star JJ Lane just proposed to his girlfriend Kayla Hughes, but he made sure to include his daughter, Gemma, in the celebration.

The ex-reality star popped the question to Kayla while they were vacationing in Hawaii back in January.

Though it was a beautiful moment between the couple, little Gemma was right there for the big moment.

“[Gemma] put her hand around my shoulder as I was down on one knee, so she was just so, so thrilled,” the 36-year-old told Us Weekly.

“I wouldn’t have had it any other way. You know, we’re bringing someone else into our family and so, for us, it’s so important to make sure that she was part of that whole process and she was able to feel part of that memory and feel she kind of got to be there in the action.”

Not to mention, JJ had been planning this epic proposal for nearly four months!

“I think I was nervous just to do the act, getting on my knee with my parents watching, my daughter’s there,” he said.

“It’s such a public display and I think that’s what started getting men nervous a little bit when I started thinking about the magnitude of it.”

Both JJ and Kayla have shared beautiful photos on their Instagram pages from the proposal.

“So excited for @kayhughes9 to join our family!! #goodvibegoodlife,” JJ captioned a photo of himself, Kayla, and Gemma.

Kayla also posted a sweet photo of the couple, writing, “Came to Hawaii with a boyfriend and now leaving with a fiancé. Let the wedding planning begin!”

She also shared a photo showing off her ring with the caption, “Does this ring make me look…. ENGAGED??!!! I said yes to the man of my dreams and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.”
