Some fans think Elyse Dehlbom should be the next Bachelorette, but there’s one person who doesn’t know if she’s the right woman for the job.
In fact, following Elyse’s very sudden departure from the show on Monday, February 4, Bachelor Colton Underwood isn’t sure if she’s made to find love on television.
The 27-year-old explained to Entertainment Tonight why Elyse shouldn’t be the next Bachelorette.
“This format isn’t exactly for her. I’m not saying that just to spite her, I’m just saying it’s realistic,” he shared.
“It is a lot. It took me a couple shows, I guess, to get there and really realize [that].”
During this week’s episode, Elyse pulled Colton aside and explained she couldn’t accept a proposal from him at the end of the show because it’s been too hard watching him with other women.
“I want the time and attention that a relationship deserves… I can’t accept a proposal after a few months of sharing your time and attention with other people. I can’t do it,” she said on the episode.

“You want something that I can’t promise… I listen to these girls talk about how much they’re falling in love with you. This isn’t working for me. I have to leave.”
Though the moment was very painful for Colton, he obviously understood her reasons for wanting to leave.
“I respect her choice and for her to stand up and do what she felt was best for her,” he explained.
“It also sort of hit home for me. It’s being told, ‘Hey, it’s not exactly what I want, or it’s not quite there.’ So it’s tough. It’s always tough to watch it.”
