The Bachelorette creator Mike Fleiss has some words for Kelly Ripa after the daytime talk show host ripped his beloved franchise to shreds during her show on Tuesday, May 14.
The former All My Children actress revealed why she hates the reality show so much while discussing The Bachelorette premiere episode with her co-host Ryan Seacrest.
“You guys know how I feel about the show … it disgusts me,” she told her audience on Tuesday morning after Seacrest revealed the current Bachelorette, Hannah Brown, would be stopping by this week.
“I couldn’t stand the idea of 25 exceptional women fighting over one ordinary fella, in my opinion. We are too special to be arguing over a guy.”
Ripa’s disdain for The Bachelor franchise is no surprise to fans who watch her show, as she frequently discusses how much she doesn’t like it, but Fleiss caught wind of the talk show host’s recent comments and felt compelled to respond.
“Easy, @KellyRipa … #The Bachelor franchise pays your salary!” Fleiss tweeted on Tuesday, May 14.
Fleiss apparently thinks that the money his franchise makes pays her salary since the talker is produced by WABC and The Bachelor as well as its spinoffs air on ABC. He might be right. Then again, daytime soaps used to make so much money they paid for primetime. AMC may have paved the way for his show in the beginning.
Fleiss isn’t the only one from Bachelor Nation weighing in on the controversy. The Bachelor’s host Chris Harrison also responded to the backlash on Twitter, writing, “Look out #BachelorNation @KellyRipa is coming after you and your ‘disgusting’ Monday night habit.”
Ripa has yet to respond to the drama, but it sounds like there’s a serious feud brewing!
