Bachelor star Colton Underwood is ready for the world to see the real him.
Despite already being a contestant on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, the new leading man is looking forward to finding love on his own terms.
In fact, he opened up to People about the upcoming season and dealing with heartbreak.
“For a long time I was just a football player, but I want people to see me for who I am,” Colton explained.
“I’m not this perfect dude. I have mistakes and I have flaws but I’m going to grow and get better from it.”
Colton fell in love with Becca Kufrin on her season of The Bachelorette, but she ended up picking her now-fiancé, Garrett Yrigoyen.
He then went on Bachelor in Paradise, where he officially split from his on-and-off fling, Tia Booth.
Despite the breakups, however, he has no hard feelings about how things ended.
“I consider them friends now. They’re supportive of me, and they’re happy,” he said.
Now that he’s getting ready to be the star of his own show, Colton is happy to just be himself.
“Throughout my football career, I’ve always been somebody who’s been very aware and I know when the camera is on me and I know how to be polished,” he said.
“I can see how that might come off as disingenuous. So for the first time, it was like this is really me.”
He continued, “I’m undeniably myself, and I think realizing that is the way to live life. I may be goofy, I may be corny and I may be cheesy, but I’m me.”
