Arnold Schwarzenegger had one of the greatest catch-phrases of all time when he said, “I’ll be back,” in the original 1984 version of The Terminator as well as the sequel, Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Now the former governor of California tells us when that will be.
In a tweet to his followers on Wednesday, April 4, Schwarzenegger sent out an image of himself as the Terminator in the new film, Terminator: Dark Fate. Along with it, he said the following, “I’m back. November 1.”
And just like that, a frenzy has been unleashed for fans of the cyborg series. While there have several follow-up movies, for purists, it’s the original and the first sequel that rule. That’s because they had both stars, Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor, in them. None of the other films did.
But that’s not true of this latest one and that’s why it’s so exciting to see these two paired again and what kind of story will come of it. Also special in the first two was having James Cameron on board. He’s on board again, but just having influence on the story and as a producer. This new installment will have Tim Miller directing.
It has been rumored that this will pick up from the second film and not consider canon the ones that followed. The second film ended with their foe, Skynet, seemingly being overpowered and destroyed by the Terminator, Sarah and her son John Connor.
With the future having once seemed doomed, there was new hope finally for Sarah Connor and her son and supposed leader of the future resistance, John. But if Skynet was destroyed, did that future happen — and was John still a leader? Unfortunately, we will just have to wait until November to find out!
