It’s been storyline heaven for Bryan Dattilo on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) the past few months.
Lucas has hit rock bottom and is drinking again. And, things are about to intensify now that he’s seeing visions of his “dead” son.
Couple that with Chandler Massey’s return to the popular role of Will and things are about to get more intense.
Eventually those visions should give way to a very-much-alive Will, which will make things fascinating indeed.
Dattilo’s thrilled to have his favorite “son” back on the job. “Working with Chandler was always great. The Emmys speak for themselves,” says Dattilo, referring to Massey’s three consecutive awards as Outstanding Younger Actor in a Daytime Drama Series in 2012, 2013 and 2014. “He’s the man. It’s great to have him back.”
He credits Massey’s return with giving him some of his most emotional material in a long time. “The stuff I recently did [with Chandler Massey]…It’s probably the hardest and most challenging I’ve ever done as an actor.
When Will ‘died’ two years ago, Dattilo wowed us as a father grieving his son. We watched Lucas grow up along with Will, as he was conceived when Lucas and Sami (Alison Sweeney) were just teens.
As we watched Lucas’ heart break, ours broke as well. But, now Massey is back and the father-son duo can continue–something we got a glimpse of today.
“Chandler’s so cool in real life,” notes Dattilo. “He’s another person who, when you work with every day, it doesn’t seem like work. You’re just talking to someone you would normally hang out with. He’s a really bright, young, talented kid. The fact that he’s good doesn’t go to his head. He’s just Chandler.”
