Are we supposed to be rooting for Allie Horton and Tripp Johnson on Days of our Lives? Tripp sure sounded sincere when he was waxing poetic about how much he loved Allie to Roman Brady. But where, exactly, is this great love story?

Days of our Lives: Bad Start

Allie (Lindsay Arnold) spent literally months accusing Tripp (Lucas Adams) of rape. And, since we are obliged to #AlwaysBelieveWomen, all of Tripp’s protestations fell on deaf ears. Even when the truth came out, that it wasn’t Tripp who raped Allie and fathered Henry, but his half-brother, Charlie (Mike Manning), sympathy still remained on Allie’s side.

Everyone worried about how bad Allie would feel about falsely accusing Tripp, and they kept reassuring her that she was still a wonderful person. If Tripp was a little peeved, well, he was wrong for feeling that way. He should get over it as soon as possible. His life was almost ruined, but then it wasn’t. So no harm, no foul, right?

No Backsies

Because Henry was a child of rape on Days of our Lives, Allie initially didn’t want to keep him. Which is completely her right. She promised her baby to Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), even going to court to keep her mom Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) from claiming him.

Nicole did everything to support Allie, including taking care of Henry when Allie didn’t feel like it. But then Allie changed her mind. And everyone told her what a wonderful person she was. Nicole didn’t so much as point out that they’d had a deal.

Days of our Lives: Love to Love You

Tripp did as he was instructed and not only didn’t hold a grudge against Allie for almost sending him to prison, but he fell in love with her. He told Roman (Josh Taylor) that he wants to take care of Allie and Henry forever.

Meanwhile, Allie cheated on Tripp with Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) — and lied about it. So if this is a couple we should be rooting for… wouldn’t it be nice if the writers had ever given us a reason to?
