Life in Salem has gotten a lot more interesting, since Stefan O. DiMera arrived on Days of Our Lives (DOOL).

The son of uber-villain Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) and wicked villainess Vivian (Louise Sorel), it was a sure bet the character would be beguiling by virtue of his gene pool.

And he is, just not in the ways you might have imagined. Stefan’s (Tyler Christopher) his own man and a far cry from either of his nefarious parents, and that’s what makes him DAYS’ most intriguing new character.

Dichotomous DiMera
If you had to sum up Stefan in a word, it would be dichotomous. He’s a perfect blend of good and bad; open, but calculating; honorable, yet untrustworthy. While he plotted and maneuvered to take over DiMera Enterprises and clearly has an end game, he hasn’t ousted anyone in the family.

Everyone’s still gainfully employed at the company. And he’s even allowed the entire gang to continue living under his roof, including mama Viv’s arch rival, Kate (Lauren Koslow).

Mr. Wonderful
Stefan’s never tried to cover his affection for Abigail (Marci Miller), yet he’s never crossed the line, either. As the first one clued in to Abby’s personality splits, he immediately began reading up on the subject so he could understand her condition.

He was genuinely kind and caring as he tried to help Abby get a grip on reality. That softer side was totally unpredictable and displayed Stefan in a whole new light.

That “Stabby” Connection
Granted, Stefan’s intrigue with alternate “Gabby” has stopped him from keying in Chad (Billy Flynn), who’d immediately take his wife to get professional help.

Still, it’s hard to blame Stefan, considering the connection he’s come to share with “Gabby” and how much she seems to need and rely on him. Their relationship is mesmerizing, hovering dangerously on the edge, and, perhaps, even more intriguing than Stefan himself.

Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
