Why Alison Sweeney Makes Days of Our Lives SOOOO Much Better

Alison Sweeney is back as Days of Our Lives’ Sami and spearheading the campaign to bring Will back to his family in Salem.

Since her arrival, the storyline has taken pivotal turns, as revelations about Will’s (Chandler Massey) whereabouts and what happened to him after he was seemingly “murdered” by Ben Weston have been revealed.

Sami’s inclusion in the “Will’s Alive” twist has amped up the drama with Sweeney infusing every scene with her own special brand of hijinks and chutzpah.

As longtime viewers, it’s made us realize one major thing: Alison Sweeney makes Days of Our Lives infinitely better.

Hell-Raiser and Heroine
Sami is a perfect blend of hell raiser and heroine. On the one hand, she’s a bold, mischievous hellion who will do whatever she has to do to achieve her end goal. When she’s on a mission, there’s no stopping her and heaven help the person who tries. On the other hand, she’s a bona fide heroine.

Over the years, viewers have watched the character emerge from an awkward teenager into a fiery, determined woman. She’s someone you can’t help but root for. There’s no one on the canvas like her, and she leaves a big void when she’s gone.

We Are Family
Sami’s whole family is reinvigorated when she comes to town. It pushes John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) to the forefront, since they’re usually the ones she turns to for help navigating through her latest crisis or dilemma.

Eric (Greg Vaughn) suddenly has his twin to bond with, confide in, and listen to her unsolicited advice, while Brady (Eric Martsolf) always ends up pulled into the mix of his meddling stepsister, too.

Then, there’s the special rapport between Sami and Roman (Josh Taylor); the one person she’s not afraid to be a vulnerable little girl around as he effortlessly provides fatherly love and comfort to her.

Man, Oh Man
Family aside, Sami has some interesting male connections in Salem, including a pair of friendly ex-husbands. She and Lucas have been a twosome — be it as schemers, lovers, or friends — since they were teenagers.

Sami and Rafe have had a special push-pull bond, since he was first assigned to protect her back in 2008 and that lives on to this day.

Plus, there’s her flirtatious relationship with Chad (Billy Flynn), something Sami will forever keep stirring as a reminder to Abigail that she may have forgiven her for sleeping with EJ, but she’ll never forget it.

Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
