Victoria Konefal Talks Daytime Emmy Nomination and Previews DAYS Return

Days of our Lives fans won’t have to wait till later this summer to see Victoria Konefal on their screens. The actress, who took a hiatus earlier this year from her role as Ciara on DAYS, will appear this Friday on the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on CBS.

Catching up With Victoria Konefal

Soap Hub chatted with Konefal, nominated in the category of Outstanding Younger Performer, at a recent Daytime Emmy event. Read on for the scoop as the actress talks about her nomination and what viewers can expect when she’s back onscreen in the coming weeks.

Soap Hub: What’s on your reel?
Victoria Konefal: I had the first scene in my reel with Olivia Rose Keegan [ex-Claire]. She’s one of my best friends. Acting with her is always a joy. In the scene, Claire had betrayed Ciara in a way that was utterly heartbreaking. I added some of the execution scenes — Ciara’s love brought Ben [Robert Scott Wilson] back to life. I also have some light-hearted scenes with Galen [Gering, Rafe].

You and Robert are a callback to the DAYS super-couple era of the 1980s — Bo/Hope, John/Marlena, Neil/Liz, the list goes on. In fact, it seemed as if people had you two paired as a duo even before you were onscreen together.
Before anyone saw us together! That is weird. It’s also very special. I think Rob and I do a good job of presenting what is expected of us.

Ciara having amnesia and not recalling the love she and Ben shared made perfect sense to get Ciara off the canvas. Otherwise, Ciara would have stayed in Salem.
I agree. It was weird playing those scenes. I was playing Ciara from three years ago. To look at Ben from that lens [where she thought he hadn’t changed] was different. It wasn’t necessarily comfortable for either of us. But we went through it.

You sold it.
Thank you.

What’s been keeping you busy?
I’ve [recently] returned taping to Salem. Before, I was spending time with loved ones and auditioning.

How is this working with you being back and your schedule as you want to pursue other projects?
DAYS is gracious in working with me and giving me time when I need it. They contact me and check my availability which allows me to have my time when I need it. They give me the freedom to do what I want. We have an agreement with what works for both of us. I love the [Cin fans] so much. I want to give them that happy ending.

Where do you keep your Soap Hub Award for Favorite DAYS actress?
It’s on my dining room table! Thank you!

The 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards airs Friday, June 25 at 8 p.m. on CBS and streams on Paramount+. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
