CASTING NEWS: Stephen Nichols BACK At Days of Our Lives

Steve Johnson walked away from his wife Kayla and Salem to find out who set him up for a treason charge on Days of Our Lives.

Now, it looks like he may have found his answer — or at least we get to find out if he did because Stephen Nichols is returning to the show.

The actor confirmed the news to Soap Opera Digest that he is indeed on his way back to Salem and he was contacted about it a month ago. The call was a surprise, but a good one — and one that will please the many Stayla fans who have been waiting for their favorite couple to reunite.

He teased that the show has big plans for his character, but of course, he couldn’t say much more than that. The show shoots far in advance and it’s unclear whether or not he’s already reported back to the set.

If he’s already back and shooting, we still won’t be seeing him on air for six months, which could mean he’d be there for November sweeps. Steve was last seen in Salem back in September of 2018. At the time, the actor spoke with Soap Hub about what happened.

“I was disappointed and tried to negotiate, to no avail, and when I did agree to their deal they told my representation that the writers had already written me out, but that ‘Steve is an iconic character and we don’t want to lose Stephen. He will be back, probably in four to twelve weeks. We hope sooner rather than later.’

“So I decided to cool my heels and not make any statements. We’re coming up on 20 weeks now and no word.”

Thankfully, that has finally been resolved. Has Steve finally tracked down the person who set him up for treason?

Has he forgiven Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) for working with Stefan to get him his eyesight back? Hopefully, we’ll find out all of that and more soon — and we can’t wait!
