Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) was upset to learn Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) had watched Kelsey (Lena and Mira Chase) so Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) could spend the night with Stephanie (Abigail Klein). When Alex arrived for a visit, Joy gave him custody papers that stipulated Stephanie had to stay 10 feet away from Kelsey for at least a year. Alex tried to fight her. Joy declared she would give Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) custody if something happened to her if Alex didn’t agree. Alex signed the papers. Stephanie was upset to learn what he did. Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) grew suspicious of Johnny (Carson Boatman) as he pushed to meet with George O’Halloran (Michael Rose) alone. Johnny ultimately let Theo handle George so that he could be with Chanel (Raven Bowens) at her chemotherapy treatment. Paulina (Jackée Harry) wasn’t happy that Johnny was late to the appointment. Gwen (Emily O’Brien) filled Leo in on her plan to work with EJ via the hospital. Leo declared it was a disaster waiting to happen. EJ called Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) to let her know he was in Italy to see Sydney (Sydney Malakeh), who he later learned wasn’t in Italy. Cat said she missed him. EJ flashed back to her ISA confession. Chad (Conner Floyd) and Belle (Martha Madison) hit a snag in the investigation, so they took time to enjoy their romantic location. EJ spoiled their mood. Chad told him to go back to Salem. Alex and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) were on hand when Joy woke up from surgery. Sarah informed Joy that the surgery went perfectly. Joy fantasized about a life with Alex in the 1980s, where they learned Kelsey was going to be a big sister. Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla watched Kesley so Alex and Stephanie could talk. Their chat was cut short when Kayla examined Joy and learned Joy couldn’t feel her legs. Joy freaked out with Alex by her side. Kayla declared it may not be permanent. Steve informed Brady (Eric Martsolf) that Johnny was the one who left the message “arsenic for Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). They watched Johnny on the hospital security camera. George blasted Johnny for forcing him to meet with Theo alone and reminded Johnny he won’t take the fall for the tainted Coriseal. Xander (Paul Telfer) ran into Sarah at the Brady pub. They both wished things had been different with the estate and Titan. Xander left to visit Johnny. The two men bonded over being fathers. Johnny apologized for what EJ did to Titan, while Xander apologized for the plagiarism issue. Xander told Johnny to hold onto Chanel and his kids at all costs. They were shocked to see Sydney at the casino. Sydney revealed that Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) fiancé, Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti), was hosting the game and had gotten her a seat at the table in exchange for a cut of her winnings. Philip, Gabi, and Sydney all agreed to keep quiet about their participation in the poker game. Back in Salem, Ari bonded with Mason (Brandon Butler) until she learned how he treated Holly. After it was revealed that Mason worked with Marlena at a mental health hotline, Ari demanded answers from him. Mason admitted that Holly hurt someone he knew and cared about. Marlena and Kate bonded over the latter’s new job at The Spectator. Ari learned she was let go from her internship and filled Kate and Marlena in on it. When Ari blamed herself, Kate felt guilty but reassured Ari that it was the nature of the corporate world. Leo charmed Javi (Jacob Martinez) into giving their friendship a try. Javi was shocked to learn that Leo had gotten advice and intel on him from Gabi. Tate (Leo Howard) and Holly headed to the lake for some fun after she had another awkward run-in with Mason. Cat revealed to him her fear that she ruined her cover with EJ after she told him she was former ISA. EJ ignored Cat’s call, which added fuel to her worry. Gwen confronted Rafe, who gloated in his victory. Rafe declared he’s close to taking down EJ for good. Leo confronted Cat about the letter, which she denied. He tried getting intel on DiMera for his scheme to help expose the Gabi Chic fakes. Cat didn’t give him anything. Xander packed up his office at Titan. Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) arrived. They talked about his love for Sarah and how he has changed. Maggie told Xander she was proud of him. Xander admitted he will never love another woman besides Sarah and shared his heartbreak over hearing Sarah tell Brady she loved him. Rita informed EJ that Cat’s ISA backstory checked out, that Gwne’s hospital bid was denied, and that the Kiriakis estate sale was a done deal. EJ was furious. Chad and Belle got a mysterious dinner reservation. When they looked up the reservation, it gave them three new clues.
