Charlie is deader than soap dead and upcoming Days of our Lives spoilers show Rafe has a whole list of suspects, but we think he is overlooking a very important player – Charlie himself.
Charlie (Mike Manning) was last seen alive by Allie (Lindsay Arnold) as she tearfully handed over Grandma Kate’s gun. In an unfortunate and odd twist, Charlie took the pistol by wrapping his hands around it while it was pointed towards him. He kept the barrel facing his chest through Allie leaving.
Why Charlie? Why would he hold a gun that way? Gun safety 101, don’t point your gun at people, especially yourself. Our theory is, he learned what a bad idea that was in a most tragic way.
Did the gun go off while Charlie was turning it around? Quite possible, especially if he was startled by Tripp (Lucas Adams) pounding down his door (or someone else, at this point we’re not sure if the next person there was Tripp). The sudden knocking could have shaken him just enough to accidentally pull the trigger.
Would this be a cop-out for the show? Yes. Would it save all our favorite players from going to jail? Also yes. There is really no downside here aside from it being the most boring death for a villain in soap history. Hey, at least we can have fun watching Rafe (Galen Gering) arrest half of Salem before he figures out the truth. If he ever does. The Salem PD does like to take their time solving crimes.
