The Days of our Lives spoilers for January 27-31, 2020, reveal a troubling plan being set into motion, a villain being unmasked by a former victim, and so much more.
Upon arriving in Europe, “Steve” (Stephen Nichols) and John (Drake Hogestyn) run into a pair of familiar faces — Anna (Leann Hunley) and Tony (Thaao Penghlis). The intrepid ISA duo fills in their friends on their quest to hunt down and capture Stefano.
The mere mention of her father-in-law’s name sends Anna into near hysterics and she spits forth a vitriolic stream of criticisms that eventually earn her a reprimand from an irritated “Steve.”
A concerned John wonders aloud why “Steve” would care about the besmirchment of their enemy’s name, and “Steve” manages to cover by saying that he was merely fed up wasting time on someone who could offer them no assistance.
Later, phase one of SteVano and Princess Gina’s (Kristian Alfonso) plan is enacted when “Steve” is confronted and murdered by Rolf (William Utay) and John is spirited away to a secret location where “Hope” informs him that Marlena (Deidre Hall) was also a victim of the mad scientist’s murderous ire.
Shawn (Brandon Beemer) heeds Rafe’s (Galen Gering) summons and returns to his old stomping grounds.
When the two men reunite at the SPD and begin discussing “Hope’s” recent changes, Shawn immediately suspects that his mother has been transformed into Princess Gina.
Off that stunning revelation, Rafe is determined to confront the masquerader but is warned against it — after all, Shawn tangled with Princess Gina decades earlier and barely lived to tell the tale.
Instead, the younger man suggests caution and stealth but when they learn that Marlena has gone missing, they fear that she has been targeted by her old rival.
And they are certainly correct. After being lured into a trap, Marlena is “rescued” by “Steve,” who informs her of John’s overseas “death.”

In other Salem news, a guilt-ridden Kate (Lauren Koslow) makes a confession and Lani (Sal Stowers) learns that Eli (Lamon Archey) proposed to Gabi (Camila Banus). Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) also informs Eric (Greg Vaughan) that Nicole is with Brady (Eric Martsolf) now and he turns to someone else for comfort.
Might that certain someone be Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) — the mother of his cancer-stricken daughter? Let’s hope Eric’s just in the mood for tea and sympathy (and nothing more intimate) because spoilers reveal that Sarah will be declaring her love to Xander (Paul Telfer).
Speaking of Kristen and Xander, the former gets a serious grilling from baby brother Chad (Billy Flynn) over Stefano’s visit and the latter makes an urgent request of Brady.
Finally, Will (Chandler Massey) and Ciara (Victoria Konefal) debate whether or not they should make the truth about Adrienne’s (Judi Evans) demise known and Chad and Abigail (Kate Mansi) make a startling discovery. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
