There’s a long, complicated history between EJ DiMera and Nicole Walker on Days of our Lives. Now, fate has thrown the two into each other’s orbit once more and we couldn’t be happier. Their respective portrayers, Dan Feuerriegel and Arianne Zucker are infusing their characters with charm, sophistication, and emotion.
Days of our Lives EJ And Nicole Are Lovers And Friends
Despite all that’s gone on between them, Nicole and EJ understand one another in a way that no one else does. A lot of people know that EJ and Nicole dance outside the law on occasion but EJ and Nicole don’t judge each other over that. When Nicole’s with other men, she may feel deep down that she’ll never be good enough for them. When she’s with EJ though, she can be herself.
That’s why Nicole reached out to EJ when she needed not only some legal aid but for someone to talk to about the divorce papers she had to sign to extricate herself from Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan). EJ playfully teased Nicole that his lawyering would come at a price – dinner. Feuerriegel may not have played all the history with Nicole that EJ has, however, you’d never know it the way he interacts with her, telling Nicole he’s always admired her “insistence on living life full out.”
Nicole Walker’s Holding It Together
“Wow,” replied Nicole, her self-effacing defense mechanisms on full blast. “You make that sound like a beer ad instead of adultery.” EJ is aware that Nicole knows he’s no saint so he, likewise, can be himself around her. He gently chastised Nicole for turning down spousal support, noting that Eric should be paying her something especially as she’s taken care of his niece (Allie) and her son (Henry).
The couple’s relationship deepened further after EJ shared an emotional reunion with his hospitalized mother Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) after she attempted to take her own life because of a run-in with MarDevil (Deidre Hall). One reason that EJ can’t figure out that his mother was Satan’s victim on Days of our Lives is because he’s too concerned with his own mistreatment of the woman who brought him into the world.
EJ DiMera’s Showing Vulnerability To Nicole
EJ shared with Nicole that she’s one of the few people who’s ever seen a vulnerable side to him. Nicole responded by saying she was honored that he shared so much of himself with her. Zucker and Feuerriegel have great chemistry as evidenced by how vulnerable their characters can be with one another. Heck, EJ can even talk to Nicole about how much he misses the wife who cheated on him — Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney). And Nicole’s at a place in her life where can see past her animosity with her former sister-in-law and put EJ’s needs first.
EJ thanked Nicole for not only checking up on him at the hospital but also for not scolding or mocking him for his harsh behavior. “You listened and gave me hope that things can be better moving forward,” he told her. “Reminding me that I am right where I want to be and with the person I want to be with.”
“I’m right where I want to be, too,” Nicole responded. The two actors bring flair, class, chemistry, and charisma to their scenes and on-screen dynamic. We can’t wait for more and the best part is, we know the best is yet to come. As viewers have seen in an extended winter teaser video showing upcoming scenes, EJ and Nicole are about to grow more intimate – and Sami’s walking in on them at an inopportune moment.
So, if Sami’s still looking to have that reunion with EJ when she comes back, she’s going to find that, once again, Nicole is her rival because ‘EJole’ is on and we are so here for it!
