While we haven’t seen soap vet A Martinez pop up as his most recent role — Eduardo Hernandez on Days of our Lives — for a little while now, the soap vet who has also had roles on Santa Barbara, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful, is missed by his many fans.
The actor was getting nostalgic on social media, reflecting on a favorite concert that he went to about five years ago, which is understandable since attending indoor concerts has been impossible during the coronavirus pandemic.
“John Bishop and I took our daughters to this Jackson Browne Greek Theatre Concert in 2016,” he wrote on Instagram. “Earlier in the year, the Eagle Glenn Frey (who co–wrote Take It Easy) had passed away. At the end of the evening, Jackson brought out the band for this two-song encore, and said to us –– with emotion in his voice –– that he’d written this song with his good friend, but that tonight he ‘might need some help’ to sing it. We were more than glad to lift our voices.”
Martinez added the 10-minute video of the song, and you can hear the crowd singing along in what had to have been an incredibly moving experience for everyone.
He also included the lyrics of “Take It Easy/Our Lady of the Well,” and credited the popular band, calling out Bob Glaub on bass, Mauricio Lewak on drums, Val McCallum on guitar, Alethea Mills on vocals, Jeff Young on keyboards and vocals, and Greg Leisz on pedal steel.
A Martinez has been continuing to work on The Bay, with the season finale having just aired in December. He’ll return when things get underway for Season 7. But that doesn’t mean he can’t come back to Salem.
Knowing the Hernandez family history, it’s a good bet that Eduardo never took his children to a concert like this, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t make up for it by returning to town and enjoying a night out with Gabi (Camila Banus) and Rafe (Galen Gering) at Julie’s Place and listening to Salem’s next big thing.
