Soap Opera Stars With Kids On The Front Line Fighting Pandemic

The newest American heroes come in what seems like ordinary form in a most extraordinary time. The United States is fighting a war against an invisible enemy — or at least one that can be seen under a microscope. Our hospital doctors and nurses, plus every responder doing their part to make sure our medical system can care for those struck by COVID-19 are our heroes. Longtime soap opera stars Drake Hogestyn and Vincent Irizarry have kids who are doing their part for America right now.

Drake Hogestyn and Vincent Irizarry: Dads of Heroes

Hogestyn tweeted a photo of his daughter, who he just calls Dr. Morton, late last week in her protective gear as she treats COVID-19 patients. The actor has three daughters, Rachael, Whitney, and Alexandra, and it’s Rachael who is out there trying to save lives every day as we battle this horrible respiratory virus across the globe.

The actor is certainly proud of his little girl, saying: “You’re my hero Dr.Morton, but you’ll always be my little girl. Stay safe on the front lines.#ERdoctors #stayhome.”

Former co-star Vincent Irizarry, who played Deimos on DAYS, as well as Nick and Lujack on Guiding Light, David Hayward on All My Children, David on The Young and the Restless, and most recently Dr. Armstrong on The Bold and the Beautiful, has a son, Ash, who just arrived in New York City to help build a brand-new practical wartime hospital in Central Park.
