It seems like just last month we were watching soap opera classic episodes — and actually, it was. Now, one soap is reverting back to classic mode on Monday and another soap won’t be on at all. Let’s take a look at what to expect on a very unusual American Labor Day.

Soap Opera Holiday Schedule

Spectators may not be in the stands, but the U.S. Open is being played as usual at The National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. As per usual, that means we won’t see Days of Our Lives this Labor Day as NBC airs tennis drama rather than daytime drama. New episodes resume on Tuesday with the return of Abigail (Marci Miller) and Tripp (Lucas Adams), as well as Ciara (Victoria Konefal) fighting back.

General Hospital will air an encore episode from this past April, the third time we are seeing this episode as GH also aired it leading up to the debut of new shows after the soap returned to the set due to the coronavirus pandemic. The episode originally aired on April 14 of this year and features the following teasers:

Michael (Chad Duell) is intimidated. Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) turns to Chase (Josh Swickard) for comfort. Nelle (Chloe Lanier) runs into Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). Finn (Michael Easton) plans an epic birthday party for Violet (Jophielle Love). Peter (Wes Ramsey) continues to manipulate Maxie (Kirsten Storms).

The CBS soaps also aired classic episodes for months earlier this year, with The Bold and the Beautiful returning in July and The Young and the Restless returning in August. Happily, we still get new episodes on Monday so the show goes on in LA and Genoa City.

Soap Hub hopes you enjoy your Labor Day whether you choose to watch soaps or not. Just be careful, stay out of crowds, wear your mask if out in public, and stay healthy.
