Poor Lucas has hit rock bottom on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), but there’s good news: there’s nowhere for him to go but up.
After his relationship with Adrienne (Judi Evans) tanked, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) turned to liquor to dull the pain. Despite years of sobriety, he started guzzling down bottle after bottle and was soon in raging alcoholic mode.
Fortunately, Sami (Alison Sweeney) convinced Lucas he needed help, and now he’s detoxing at the hospital. Here are four steps Lucas needs to take to get his life back on track.
Making Peace
Since losing Adrienne was the trigger that got Lucas drinking again, it would behoove him to make peace with her. While lookalike Bonnie dumped Lucas, Adrienne ultimately decided to reunite with Justin. Lucas needs to talk things out with her, understand her reasoning and, hopefully, continue to have his ex-fiancée as a friend.
Accepting Support
His sponsor Maggie and mom Kate have already been by Lucas’s bedside encouraging him to get well. He’s sure to have more visitors, too, like Jennifer and Chloe.
Lucas needs to welcome and accept the support and love of all because it’s through them that he’ll gather up his own strength to beat this.
Reconnecting with Will
A visit from Will (Chandler Massey) would surely fast forward Lucas’s determination to get sober. He’d be anxious to heal, so he can reconnect with the son he believed was dead. They have a lot of lost time to make up for and, remember, Will and Lucas shared a special friendship in addition to their father/son bond.
Steer Clear
There’s one Salemite Lucas should steer clear of and that’s Brady. The two addicts became drinking buddies when they were dealing with women woes; each encouraging the other to drown their sorrows away. It led Lucas down a dangerous path. Now that he’s off it, he’d be wise to avoid Brady. They’re clearly a bad influence on one another.
