Is the Return of Stefano on Days of Our Lives a Good Idea?

When Hope shot Stefano last winter on Days of Our Lives, we thought that was the last we would ever see of The Phoenix alive. Remember, he seemed really and most sincerely dead, plus actor Joe Mascolo gave exit interviews announcing his retirement.

Then, Mascolo passed away in December and we knew there was no hope for his return. However, we had no idea he had taped scenes earlier last year that hadn’t aired yet–and they’re about to air this week. Soap Hub asked if you think resurrecting this character one last time is a good idea or not.

Out of 15,000 votes, a whopping 91% of you think this is the perfect idea. You were shocked by last year’s shooting and feel you didn’t have a chance to say a proper goodbye to this character.

One last hurrah, knowing it’s coming and knowing for sure this is it, is just what you need for closure with both Mascolo and Stefano. After all, he was a Days of Our Lives staple since 1981.

Only about 5% think this is lazy storytelling and wish DAYS had chosen not to resurrect The Phoenix for the umpteenth time. You wish the writers had let both the character and the actor rest in peace.

The final 4% think it’s going to be too hard to see him this coming week knowing Mascolo is gone. However, DAYS taped these shows prior to his death and you realize there was no way to change course in December with this storyline already in the can.
