On today’s Days of our Lives, Susan Banks was revealed to be less guardian angel and more the (actual) Devil on Marlena’s shoulder.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition to Old Scratch’s subterfuge, Stephanie and Paulina (Jackée Harry) got lapsed viewers up to speed, Abe Carver (James Reynolds) offered John some hard-earned wisdom, and Allie Horton offered Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) a sliver of hope. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
There’s More To Susan Banks Than Meets Marlena’s Eye
After journeying through a series of doors, Marlena (Deidre Hall) finds herself in an all-white room — sheer, white, wind-tossed curtains, white Grecian urns, and what appears to be a white bird bath full of pale stones because…theme — occupied by, of all people, Susan Banks.
What joy! There Susan is, alive and well and incredibly sprightly. This bodes well for Marlena…right? This means that Marlena, too, is alive and well and incredibly sprightly…right? Nope! They’re both dead. D.E.A.D. As doornails.
Still, Heaven does have its perks. Why, just the other day, Susan got to meet the King. No, not G-d, you silly. ELVIS! Elvis Aaron Presley.

But enough about Susan’s afterlife — Marlena wants to get reacquainted with the ladies that went before her. Where pray tell, are Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Kate (Lauren Koslow)?
Funny story, replies Susan. Ten Commandments breaker Kate is downstairs — like, WAY downstairs — and Kayla is currently on the books. Probably a paperwork SNAFU. Speaking of paperwork, Marlena has much to sign. Lots of I’s to dot and T’s to cross. But a nap first. A nap, first and foremost.
And while Marlena is napping in yet another all-white chamber, Lucifer — currently borrowing Susan’s form — can stand around laughing maniacally. Evils gonna Evil.
DOOL Recap: Catch Up
Missed an episode or three? No problem! Stephanie and Paulina have you covered. After congregating at the latter’s abode, the two got down to the business of reviewing the past few weeks.
Update: Stephanie’s absolutely furious at Alex for shutting her phone off which cost her precious quality time with her dying mother. Meanwhile, Paulina is spitting mad because that mean, mean, mean Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) is taking her and Chanel (Raven Bowens) to civil court. All caught up? Great. On to fresh developments.
Would Stephanie be interested in lending her and her daughter an assist, Paulina wondered. Yes, yes she would. Excellent! Does Paulina think that Stephanie is being too hard on Alex? No, no she does not. Excellent!
Abe Carver Is The Voice Of Reason
John (Drake Hogestyn) is in a bad place. A real bad place. His wife has literally just died, and he just can’t see himself going on without her. And going back up to the hospital roof in his state probably wasn’t the best idea. Luckily his best buddy, who knows a thing or two about moving on from unimaginable loss — was on hand to help him rally.
John has to go on living for his kids, and his grandkids, and for the sake of Marlena’s memory, Abe encouraged. John agreed. In fact, he decided to face his new normal head-on starting that very minute. So, it’s back home, where he can be amongst Marlena’s things. Cold comfort, but comfort nonetheless.
Days of our Lives Recap: Allie Oop
Sensing that Allie could really use a shoulder to cry on, Alex offered his. Allie was most appreciative. The two retired to her apartment, drank beer, and commiserated over their losses, both real and perceived. He’s lost Stephanie — quite possibly the love of his life. [Insert eye-roll emoji] and Allie — on top of losing her grandma — is pretty sure she’s thisclose to losing Chanel…to her brother…Allie’s, not Chanel’s. Given that this is DAYS, clarity on that subject is most certainly needed.
Upon returning home, Chanel wasn’t exactly thrilled by Alex’s presence, nor by Allie’s catty suggestion that they have another threesome, nor Allie’s insistence that she’ll be avoiding their bedroom altogether that night. Overreact much? Sheesh.
Sloan Petersen Is Eric’s Rock
Nobody else has much use for her, but Eric (Greg Vaughan) was in desperate need of Sloan’s company. And the use of her body. And her bed. Sloan was happy to comply. And sure, they both swear that theirs is a no-strings-attached relationship, but that’s clearly not the case. Most shocking of all, there might be some good in Sloan after all. It’s just deep, deep down inside.
