In the Days of our Lives recap for Friday, December 22, 2023, Stephanie runs to Chad’s side when he calls and winds up making his children’s day.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Maggie caused quite the stir with her choice of plus one to the Horton Tree Trimming, Doug and Julie flashed back to days gone by, while Brady, Theresa, and Tate experienced a Christmas miracle. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.

Promises, Promises

Despite informing Everett (Blake Berris), who was done with Hanukkah (you know the holidays don’t coincide this year), that she’d be putting her feet up and enjoying the comedy stylings of Will Ferrell in Elf, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) raced over to the Horton house when Chad (Billy Flynn) called and requested her presence. The kids were taking their breakup pretty badly. In fact, neither could quite seem to get into the holiday spirit. And that worried Chad.

Stephanie agreed to talk with the pair, but before letting her go, Chad insisted on issuing her a long-overdue apology. Not for what he did to Everett over the paper thing, though. He was sorry he attempted to move on with her when he knew good and well that he wasn’t ready. That was unfair, and he shouldn’t have done it.

Emerging from the dining room, Stephanie and Chad were surprised to be joined by Everett, who’d decided to accept Doug’s (Bill Hayes) invitation after all. After making nice, Stephanie broke away to hand Thomas and Charlotte the presents that she bought them.

The trio exchanged I miss yous, and Thomas wondered if they’d always see each other around Christmas time. Stephanie thought fast and promised the kids that every year they’d pick a day/night and spend it together. There would be popcorn and candy and jumping on the bed. So much jumping! It’ll be a blast.

And Eventful Yuletide

Despite the addition of the last name Cook, Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) couldn’t help but fawn all over Victoria Margaret, and of course, she was delighted to host Xander (Paul Telfer). If that darling girl’s parents want to spend the evening together, who is Julie to stop them?

The assemblage perked up when Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) arrived with Konstantin (John Kapelos) by her side and Doug relayed to Julie that the Greek reminds him of himself when he was younger. Something about a “flicker” in his eyes. And, a bad “flicker” at that. (Doug’s right…as proven with these scenes.)

While Konstantin and Xander had a terse convo, Maggie and Sarah huddled to discuss Konstantin’s presence. It wasn’t that Sarah minded, not in the least. In point of fact, she’s clocked that her mother, who looked so sad earlier in the evening, is now smiling. Still, Xander couldn’t help but wonder if Konstantin had ulterior motives.

After putting Konstantin on not-so-subtle notice, Julie gathered everybody around the tree and announced it was time for the trimming to begin. Once the “classic” baubles were hung, Maggie presented Sarah with the newest addition: one for baby Victoria Margaret.

Later, Doug and Julie took in the majesty of the decorated pine and recalled a Christmas spent in Tom Horton’s hospital room where they announced their reengagement after years apart. Awww. Those were the days!

The Magic Of The Season

Meanwhile, Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa’s (Emily O’Brien) renewed bickering very nearly cost them a Christmas Eve spent with Tate (Jamie Martin Mann). Luckily, they managed to rally and convince the young man that they could keep it civil for the evening.

The three ordered Chinese food, remembered a vacation spent at Universal Studios, and exchanged gifts. Well, Tate got gifts. Great gifts. A Christmas miracle rivaled only by the fact that they’d all had an enjoyable time. And, as for whether or not Tate is going to return to boarding school — nope. He’s staying put in Salem.
