In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Marlena put her unparalleled skills to good use.
In addition, a wrench was thrown in Leo’s (Greg Rikaart) best-laid plan, Gwen (Emily O’Brien) threw caution to the wind, and Li (Remington Hoffman) threw Stefan and Gabi for a loop. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Having been pulled away from her task list by a knock at the door, Marlena (Deidre Hall) was seriously put out to see that it was Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) who had come calling. Before her rival could get a word in, Marlena pointedly pointed out that Rachel (Finely Rose Slater) had set off for camp without the benefit of her mother waving goodbye.
Kristen apologized profusely and explained that she’d been a victim of Megan’s (Miranda Wilson) machinations. A literal hostage in her own home. Marlena didn’t believe her. Enter EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) to corroborate the story and appeal to Marlena to help him and Kristen remember exactly why Megan did what she did to them.

Kristen then pointed out that it would be a win-win for everyone involved. She and EJ could reclaim their memories and Marlena could help see Megan punished for her sins.
Wouldn’t putting the villainess back behind bars be worth helping Kristen? What if Kristen were to get on her hands and knees and beg? Would that sway the good doctor? No pleading necessary insisted Marlena. Who wants to go first?
Opposite this, Kate (Lauren Koslow) let herself into Harris’s (Steve Burton) hospital room and asked him to clarify something for her. How is it that the last time they spoke he was on his way to disappear Megan and then the next thing she hears is that he shows up at Stefan and Gabi’s engagement party ready to kill the former for Li?
Harris didn’t have much of an answer…but he did have a request: cut him loose so he can complete his mission. Kate, of course, refused. Instead, she did her best to convince Harris to submit to deprogramming. Yes, again. But this time with Marlena, rather than an ISA shrink. Harris refused. Kate pressed on.
Doesn’t he want to get back to his right state of mind? Doesn’t he want to regain his humanity? Find his real and true self…again? Or perhaps he’d rather live out his days forever as a pawn in Megan’s sick game. Is that the case? No, no it is not — hence his summoning of Marlena and asking for her expertise.
Elsewhere in University Hospital, Megan awoke to sights welcome — Dimitri (Peter Porte), by her side where he belongs — and not so [her wrist handcuffed to the bedframe]. What was the meaning of this? She’s the victim here. Was it some kind of sick joke?
Dimitri explained that she’d been charged with kidnapping Kristen and EJ and Megan blanched. Surely, he must be joking. There’s absolutely nothing to her siblings’ accusations. Whatever they told the police was a complete fabrication. Dimitri wasn’t so sure. He needed convincing. So, convince Megan did.
That mission accomplished, Megan then wondered whether or not Gwen had accepted her son’s proposal. Not yet. Luckily, she had been by his side ever since Megan was admitted, so there’s that. Megan was pleased. Clearly, Dimitri has found someone who truly loves him. What could be better?
Meanwhile, Leo tried and failed to convince Gwen that she’d fallen victim to a man whose upsettingly handsome face and impossibly toned physique has caused her to throw all logic out the window so he can suck her in.
With few options available to him, Leo returned to the DiMera manse to find cold hard evidence to back up his opinion. But no sooner had he gained entry and started snooping than Kristen appeared and demanded to know exactly what it was he was doing [despite that being very, very obvious].
Across town, Dimitri saw Gwen back to her apartment and asked if she’d given any more thought to his proposal. She had. And, she had an answer for him. Yes, she’d love to marry him!
At the police station, Gabi (Camila Banus) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) railed at Li for siccing Harris on them, but he insisted that it was a frame job. It was Megan. All Megan. He’s innocent as all get out.
After pondering, “Stabi” agreed that could indeed be the case. It did make logical sense after all. They also hedged. Li could still be involved. Gabi then floated the idea of going to Megan’s hospital room and smothering her with a pillow, but Stefan begged off. He wanted to go after her through the proper legal channels.
Gabi huffed, then concurred…then headed over to University Hospital, presumably to smother Megan with a pillow. At the same time, EJ, his memories returned, arrived at the institution ready to give his sister a piece of his mind.
Kate ran into EJ and found herself swept up in his mania. Both charged into Megan’s room only to find Megan vanished and a seriously peeved Gabi left in her place.
