On today’s Days of our Lives, EJ DiMera caught the tail end of a phone call between his lady and her ex, and the dialogue did not please him in the least.
In addition, Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Sloan made peace, Chanel (Raven Bowens) hurled accusations, Stefan and Gabi were freed of any and all obligations, and Rafe (Galen Gering) confessed to some drug-fueled impropriety. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
At the DiMera manse, EJ caught Nicole (Arianne Zucker) deep in thought. Rather than come right out and admit that she made love with Eric while under the influence of…something…she opted to merely confess to not feeling herself.
Luckily EJ had some [fairly] concrete explanation for what ailed her. “Those biscuits are the culprit. Rumor has it those yummy little confections were spiked with a toxin that has caused erratic behavior all over Salem.”

In fact, even EJ was affected. When Nicole inquired as to how the drug presented in him specifically, EJ confided that he’d made a photocopy of his derriere — “what some would say is my good side” — and attempted to distribute it office-wide only to be foiled by his inability to remember his correct password. “I suddenly was convinced that [it] was the letter E and the letter J all in caps repeated over and over again 1,000 times.”
Upon being questioned as to whether or not she did anything crazy while “under the influence,” Nicole lied that she’d headed for Basic Black and cut off all the collars of the samples for the summer line. “Apparently, I was convinced that it looked like something a priest would wear.”
EJ granted Nicole that that was odd but pointedly added, “Fortunately, you didn’t do anything more extreme.” In turn, Nicole said that at least EJ hadn’t made a rash decision having to do with DiMera.
And while on the subject of DiMera, Nicole queried if EJ and Stefan (Brandon Barash) were again at war over the company. They were, revealed EJ, who added that he was sure he would soon “win decisively.”
But EJ didn’t really want to talk shop with Nicole. Not when *ahem* other options were on the table. Unfortunately, Nicole wasn’t up for a spot of afternoon delight.
Opposite this, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) came calling on Eric, ostensibly to see if she left behind a favorite scarf. She hadn’t, of course. After magnanimously accepting Sloan’s catty implication that he might have been awaiting Nicole’s return, Eric asked why Sloan had earlier assumed that he and Nicole were drugged.
Sloan recalled that the two had been babbling like lunatics, and she acknowledged that it seemed unlikely that the two of them would get high together. What’s more, the news of a possible mass drugging courtesy of the treats from Sweet Bits had begun to disseminate. “As if it’s not bad enough Chanel killed both my parents, she’s got to go poison the entire town,” groused the legal eagle.
Off that revelation, Eric and Sloan got down to the business of repairing their…relationship?…romance? They decided to have breakfast with one another in the pub downstairs. [Good thing Roman’s still in Ireland toting around Not Kate’s ashes.]
Before Eric could doff his clothes and head for a shower, Nicole placed an urgent phone call in the hope of “getting on the same page.” She hadn’t told EJ about what went on between them, and she doesn’t plan to, “so this has to be our little secret.” Eric agreed.
Unbeknownst to Nicole, the entire exchange [well, her end of it anyhow] had been overheard by EJ. Dun, dun, dun!
Sweet Bits Bakery is now a crime scene, much to Chanel’s chagrin, especially in light of the “fact” that “we all know who slipped those drugs into my biscuits. Sloan Petersen has been tryin’ to destroy my life since the minute she got to Salem. She tried to have me thrown in jail, and when that didn’t work now, she decided to come after my business by poisoning the customers.”
Still, Jada (Elia Cantu) required some actual proof before making an arrest. Fingerprints would do in a pinch, surveillance footage would be even better. Chanel thought she’d be able to help on that score, but there weren’t any recordings from the night of the incident.
Talia (Aketra Sevillian) held her hand up as the cause…of the missing footage. She “forgot” to turn the cameras on before exiting with Chanel.
Stefan paid a visit to a hospitalized Melinda Trask (Tina Huang), flowers in hand. Melinda was gratified by Stefan’s presence, but his choice of bouquet left a lot to be desired. “Lilies? I don’t think I’m dead yet.”
The partners-in-scheme discussed their earlier…um…tiff, the one which Melinda seemed to remember involving an ashtray — which was actually a remote control — going upside Stefan’s head, and humorously concluded that all was forgiven and would be forgotten. No charges for assault and battery would be filed.
Stefan issued a sincere apology in the likelihood that he made Melinda feel less than, but she insisted that she understood. Stefan was madly in love with Gabi (Camila Banus) and doing whatever was necessary to hold on to her. No harm, no foul. That said, Melinda was quick to point out that they both owed her one, “and when the time is right, I have every intention of collecting on that debt.”
Meanwhile, Gabi returned home to Li (Remington Hoffman), and the two unpacked the events of the day. Gabi was a might bit surprised that Li hadn’t taken her up on her demand that he make love to her, given his penchant for tricking her in the past, but Li insisted that he loved her much too much to take advantage of her like that.
In the end, the two parted on good, even friendly terms, in spite of her leaving him to go and be with the real love of her life. They even managed to make the following a cute exchange rather than the blistering argument it could have devolved into:
Gabi: You know, since we did have good times, and I’d like to look back on them fondly, maybe you’d consider letting me keep your DiMera shares?
Li: Hell no.
Gabi: It was worth a shot.
Having taken the time out of his busy schedule for a drive-by, Abe (James Reynolds) wasn’t exactly thrilled to hear Rafe admit to kissing Jada during his “trip” nor that Sloan happened upon the encounter. Good thing Jada cosigned Rafe’s story about the kiss only proceeding because he wasn’t in his right mind.
